Reporting Child Abuse & Neglect
The Lancaster County Children and Youth Social Service Agency is a public child welfare agency mandated to provide protection services to Lancaster County's children and their families. The Agency investigates all reports of child abuse and neglect and provides intervention services to address safety threats and risk factors and stabilize the family.

After Hours Contact
If a crisis occurs after business hours, a standby case worker is available by calling the Medical Bureau at 717-396-8085. If it is a situation involving a life-threatening emergency, please call 911.
Reporting Abuse of an Adult With Disabilities
The Adult Protective Services (APS) Law provides protective services to adults between 18 and 59 years of age who have a physical or mental disability. The APS law mandates that specific employees and administrators who work with persons with disabilities must report the following incidents to the adult protective services hotline:
- Abandonment
- Abuse
- Exploitation
- Neglect

Reporting Abuse of an Older Adult
Elder abuse is the abuse or financial exploitation of adults 60 years of age and older. Signs of abuse may include:
- Bed sores
- Injuries that are incompatible with the explanations
- Soiled or dirty clothing or bedding
- Undernourishment or dehydration
- Unexplained bruises or welts
- Untreated medical condition
